Samantha Tolj in Fat Tony & Co

SAMANTHA TOLJ - FAT TONY & CO (SCREENTIME, NINE)

Samantha has been in Melbourne shooting the TV mini-series FAT TONY & CO (Screentime) which will air on Nine in 2014.

From Screentime, the producers of the top rating Underbelly franchise, the nine-part drama Fat Tony & Co will uncover the true story of one of Australia’s most notorious criminals, Tony Mokbel.

On March 19, 2006, Mokbel, said to be Australia’s richest gangster, became Australia’s most wanted man. What followed was an intense manhunt that lasted 18 months and dismantled a drug empire.

A miraculous tip-off to the Australian police revealed that Mokbel was living in Athens, Greece under a false name and documents. But how do you find one man in a population of four million? Fat Tony & Co follows Mokbel from his early beginnings in Melbourne’s underworld to his eventual discovery and arrest in a cafe in Athens.

EXCLUSIVEE!‘s Hamlet has found his Ophelia. Haley Lu Richardson (Ravenswood) has been cast in the network’s pilot The Royals, a contemporary drama about a fictional royal family informed by the regal opulence of the British monarchy and framed by Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

'Last Resort' DANIEL LISSING

Congratulations to the extremely talented Daniel Lissing who has achieved what many actors dream to. Daniel received the most rewarding news, after sending an audition tape to the USA from Australia. He had been chosen as one of the leads in a US pilot called ‘Last Resort’. He was being flown to Hawaii to shoot the pilot. If this news wasn’t enough for the young actor, Daniel was recently told that ‘Last Resort’ had been picked up for 13 episodes. Well done DANIEL LISSING! Enjoy the journey!! It leaves all of us On Camera Studio actors asking… can it really 'just' happen? I remember one casting agent say that the longer you stick with acting, the odds are you will get work. :) So on that note, my one piece of advice is, keep training, work on all of your weaknesses, so when an opportunity does arise, you will be as prepared as you possibly can to show the acting world your talent. Worked for Daniel! Thanks to Sandra Lee Paterson for all the tough love, raising the bar to an extremely high standard and spending the time to prepare all serious actors for any working environment they might encounter. You are truley the guru!! xxx

G.I. Film Festival in Washington D.C

Congratulations to our own Roger Sciberras and David John Kelly (DJK) whose film "SACRAMENT" has been selected to screen at the prestigious G.I. Film Festival in Washington D.C. on May 16th. They will be flying over to attend both the screening and a Q&A session afterwards. The G.I. Film Festival is the only one of it's kind that was specifically created to celebrate films (feature/short/documentary) that honor the lives and sacrifices of American servicemen and women from all branches of the US military. The festival is in it's 6th year running and is attended not only by Hollywood luminaries, but also members of congress as well as active duty and retired military personnel. A big honor.

David Kelly (DJK) Sacrament

Congratulations David for not only winning a film award for the film Sacrament in USA but has also been informed that he won BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR for his performance. The festival is called the Creative Arts Film Festival. Enjoy picking up the 2 awards in USA!!

Great news from Demi Bryant

Landed a presenting job for a live online game show called Cash Call! The 5th week of filming has just started and it's running for 13 weeks! It's on 5 nights a week from 7pm-9pm!

I've also been helping out a friend from time to time co-hosting his radio segment he does once a week. Really enjoying that too.

Just wanted to send you an email to say thank you for all that you have taught me, this is a great step to hopefully bigger things in the future!

Big Congrats to David Kelly (DJK)  & Roger Sciberras who won an award for their film Sacrament

Congratulations! Your project SACRAMENT has been chosen as a Gold Award Winner at the 2011 California Film Awards!  You should be very proud of this distinction as yours is one of only a small handful of select projects awarded this exclusive honor.  Only a maximum of 10 projects per competition category were selected to receive this distinguished level of recognition

David and Roger will be attending the awards on January 28th in San Diego

ATTENTION LOGIE UPDATE - MATT BOESENBERG

Gday all,

Happy New Year to you! Here's to a big 2012!

Having worked with you I wanted to share some exciting news. I have been nominated for a Logie in the category of Most Popular New Male Talent! Hard to believe that I'm still considered New (but that's a good thing).

Can I ask for your support in voting for me? It is effectively a popularity competition, so I need all the votes I can get!

The website to go to is http://tvweek.ninemsn.com.au

If you click on the link then click on the banner on the website that says 2012 Logies vote now! There are a few categories you have to vote for but the main one is for me in Most Popular New Male Talent. Thanks for your help.

I'd love to know how you are going and any news of your own.

Best wishes for a year of health and happiness,

Cheers

Matt
