Travel sickness results when conflicting messages are sent to the brain. An example of this is being below deck in a moving boat, or reading a book in a moving vehicle. While the inner ears and skin receptors detect the travel, the eyes don't register it. This conflicting information may cause the symptoms dizziness, nausea and vomiting. (30)
