	    McLeod's Daughters (Aust. Series)
            EXT. HORSE PADDOCK - DAY

            CLAIRE and PETER walk towards the horse paddock
            with a new mare in tow.

                                CLAIRE
                      You ever seen this work?

                                PETER
                      To be honest, no.  But it might save us
                      having to hand serve or artificially
                      inseminate, so why not give it a go?

                                CLAIRE
                      And the theory is we take one of these
                      mares, put her in the paddock with
                      Wildfire, he gets …

                                PETER
                      … interested.

                                CLAIRE
                      And then we whip her out and he …
                          (not saying the word)
                      … with Blaze?

                                PETER
                      That's the theory.

                                CLAIRE
                      But Blaze is better looking than any of
                      these mares.

                                PETER
                      To us.  But she might be a bit feisty for
                      him. The suggestion is stallions seem to
                      go for, um, the quiet ones.

                                CLAIRE
                      You mean they like a submissive mare?

                                PETER
                      Yes.

            CLAIRE rolls her eyes.

                                CLAIRE
                      So what's new.

                                PETER
                          (subtext laden)
                      Well, not all stallions are the same. 
                      Some like, fiercely independent
                      companions. 

	    CLAIRE is almost blushing as they arrive at the yards.
                      
                                CLAIRE
                      Well let's hope we have a match then …

            PETER is staring at the horses.

                                PETER
                      I don't know if we need to.

            On BLAZE & WILDFIRE.  A marked change has occurred.  They are
            now muzzling one another.

                                PETER (CONT'D)
                      I think they might be going to ….

                                CLAIRE
                      Going to?  I think they already have. 
                      Look at that stupid grin on his face.

                                PETER
                      I think you're right.  And she's bouncing
                      around like she's wearing air-pumps.

            They both enjoy a smile.

                                PETER (CONT'D)
                      Wonder what made them change their minds?

                                CLAIRE
                      Maybe they were just posing.  Maybe they
                      really liked one another all along?

                                PETER
                          (defending Wildfire)
                      He might not have wanted to seem too
                      macho.

                                CLAIRE
                      She was probably playing harder to get
                      than she really was.

                                PETER
                      Who do you reckon made the first move?
